On Tuesday (March 8th, 6-9 PM) we’re singing at the Gender Equity Resource Center for their RISE event, which is about celebrating the work and contributions of women and women leaders. There is a formal dinner and an award ceremony for women in Berkeley, and we’ll be one of the performers and speakers throughout the event.
We’re pretty excited about this opportunity to sing for and meet women in the community. Pictures and (possibly) videos coming soon!
If you want to check out the event, go to their webpage and RSVP at the link on the page.
Our event was really fun! Below is a (poorly lit) video of our Sweet Dreams arrangement that Kriya took:
So auditions are happening RIGHT NOW and they’ll go on until February 5th. If you want to audition, click HERE. Fill out the form and make sure you remember what time your audition is! Both men and women can audition at that link for Men’s and Women’s Chorales.
Auditions happen in Room 43 in the basement of Cesar Chavez Hall, next to where the Cal1Card office is. They’ll be 15 minutes long and consist of basic warm-ups as well as tests of vocal range, tonal memory, and sight reading. You will be expected to prepare a very short solo piece of your choice.
Women’s Chorale is a big group of about 50 members. We meet every Wednesday and Friday from 4:15 to 6:00 PM, and we also have Sproul shows (at Sather Gate) on Fridays at 3:00 PM. We’d love to have you audition.
See you there!
For more information, go to the auditions page or the Facebook event.
Hey ladies! Like to sing? Want a low-key fun experience with other people who love music? Come sign up to audition for the UC Women’s Chorale!
We meet twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4:15 to 6 PM. Our setlist has included songs as varied as stuff from Carmina Burana, 60s music, and modern-day Taylor Swift and Florence and the Machine. This semester we’re going to expand our repertoire even more and do gigs and Sprouls! It’s sure to be an exciting semester, and we’d love to have you.
To audition, sign up for a slot at ucceauditions and prepare a small solo to audition with. We’ll also ask you to do some sight reading of both music and rhythm, but it’s okay if you don’t know how to do that stuff – we can teach you as the semester progresses.
Women’s Chorale is where I go to de-stress and feel good about myself again. I encourage you to apply.
Hope to see you there! GO BEARS!!!
